Shelby celebrates with Candy!

When I asked Shelby what theme she wanted for her birthday this year, she was torn between cats and candy.  Given that we don't own a cat and most of the family (including Shelby) is allergic to them, I decided to encourage the candy idea.  Plus, I think she only said cats because she happened to be looking through an animal magazine with a cute picture of kittens when I asked her.  Candyland is one of the girls favorite games so "candyland" became our theme.  If I had had more time and  a few hundred more dollars, I could have incorporated a ton of other ideas.  As it was, we had a really fun Candyland party. I think this is a theme we will probably do again.

My Little Graduate

Shelby graduated from kindergarten this month. I figured this time around, I wouldn't be all that emotional.  After all, I have done this a couple times already.  It's not like she is going into the unknown.  She's going to her sister's school with teachers we are familiar with.  However, as soon as I saw her walk down the room in that cap and gown, the tears came out of nowhere!  It doesn't really seem to matter if it's the oldest or the youngest, watching your babies grow up is very bittersweet. 

Shelby and her partner in crime Sage.  These two are never very far apart.  Shelby even "rearranged" the line up on stage to make sure that she and Sage were standing next to each other during their performance.

Happy 8th Birthday Macey!

I love celebrating the girls birthdays!   Sometimes Bret accuses me of going a little overboard, but I always want them to know that the day they came into this world was one of the most special days of my life.  I don't know where our family would be without our gentle spirit!  She is silly, sweet and oh so kind.  I love you Macey girl!

Macey has been wanting a Luau birthday party for as along as I can remember, and this year we finally had the back yard for it!  It was so much fun.

Awana Quiz Competiton

Abby was asked by her Awana leader to be a part of the competition team this year. They competed against other churches and Awana groups all over. It's a three part competition, with a written test, individual and partnered oral quiz (jeopardy style). They are asked all kinds of questions from the Bible. Abby studied and studies, and it was a good thing because it was hard!!! I couldn't believe some of the questions asked. All her hard work paid off and she and her partner both won first place. She was so proud!
