You've Got a Friend in Me

She's just a little bit crazy!

That's what happens when you get to fourth grade.  The days are longer.  The work is harder, and the recess is much shorter.   When you get home, you have to let the crazy, silly side come out.  That's one of the things I love best about her.  She's not afraid to let her goofiness shine!

Me and Shelby

Shelby loves using my iPhone to take pictures of the two of us together. She especially loves directing how we are going to act or sit in each shot, and I love listening to her laugh hysterically as she looks at each one.   For her, the sillier the better!  Number two is her favorite.  She wants if framed for her room.  Personally I like the last one because that's just what Shelby and I did every afternoon last year while we waited for her sisters to get out of school...sit on the couch and snuggle.

Happy Birthday Nani

(I wrote this post back in Febuary and only today discovered that it never got posted.  So here it is, only a few months late.)

One of the greatest blessing God ever gave me is my mother. She taught me to be a lady, a woman of God, to be kind and compassionate to others, to always exhibit good manners, and most importantly, to never leave home without lipstick on! I love her so much. Happy birthday Mom! We are so lucky to have you in our lives.

Catch Up

I did several months of catch up on the blog so scroll down if you're interested.  I've been blogging but was having photo trouble so I kept them hidden till I could figure it out.  I didn't expect it to take me so long but with the girls home for summer, we were busy!

First Day of School

My conversations with the girls after their first day of school.  Do these girls have unique personalities or what?

Shelby:
Me, "How did you like school?"
Shelby, "I think I'm going to throw up."  (Then there was a period of me comforting her and calming her down.  Coming from playschool into this was very overwhelming.)
Me again, "What was your favorite part of school?"
Shelby, "I made a best friend."
Me, "How nice!  What's her name."
Shelby, "Hmmm, I'm not sure."

Macey:
"School is wonderful.  I LOVE school!  All my friends are back, I was so glad to see them.  I LOVE my friends.  There are three new kids in my class.  They are so nice.  I LOVE the new kids.  Mrs. Castanon is strict but so nice.  I LOVE Mrs. Castnanon!  You bought me the best school supplies and I get to keep them in my desk now that I'm a third grader.  I LOVE being a third grader!"

Abby:
"School was OK but boring so far.  I'm not sure I will learn anything in fourth grade.  I like Mrs. Martin.  She seems like she will do a good job running the classroom.  She has good rules and that's important because my class is a handful.  I don't think the teachers thought very hard about their rule of only 15 minutes for recess.  After all how in the world are you supposed to use the bathroom, properly wash your hands and still have time to play?  Daniel is still wild, but he doesn't seem to be mean this year.  I'm glad he worked on his manners over the summer.   In my class this year you get a daily grade of E or N.  E is good, N is bad. Today only one other person and I got an E. Mom, you better not do anything to get me an N!  Never forget to sign my planner please.  (then she proceeds to stress over all the things I might do to mess up her daily grade)"

I love my girls and their very unique personalities! And yes, I did cry when I left them (just like I do every year).

My Sass-a-Frass

Shelby decided to entertain herself while I was trying on clothes in the dressing room.  Thanks to the mute button, she didn't even know I took the pictures till the end.

I wonder if these shoes fit me?
I think they do!
Oh yeah,
I'm looking good!
Wait a minute?
Are you watching me?
